The diagram illustrates the life cycle of the female mosquitoes.
Overall, there are four main stages in the development of the female mosquito, from the breeding of the mosquitoes to the molting of the larvae before the larval stages and end up becoming adults.
At the beginning of the life cycle, female mosquitoes hatch eggs in week one, after which these eggs transform into larval shapes in the first stage. Then, an increase in size can be seen as larvae in the third stage are twice as big as those at first during three weeks. Not only that, but those previous larvae also get much bigger over two weeks before continuing the process.
After week five, the former larvae turn into pupa forms with significant changes occurring, which are the noticeable rise in size and the forming of their head and tail. In week seven or eight, a notable development can be witnessed as the pupas become fully-grown mosquitoes and the life cycle repeats.
