The provided maps depict changes that took place in the first floor of a library over a period of 8 years starting from 2001. Looking from an overall perspective, it is evident that this area witnessed a number of modifications, most significant of which include the addition of shelves for new subjects and the rearrangement of several facilities.
There were eight square tables creating four table rows located in the heart of the ground floor in 2001; however, they were replaced with four long rectangular tables in 2009. The shelf for newspapers and periodicals to the right of the tables in 2001 was demolished to make way for a shelf comprising films and DVDs. Meanwhile, there was also an addition of two computers to the north of the stairs and an area catering children’s demands.
Two shelves containing self help and history books, which were situated in the most western side of the area in 2001, experienced a conversion into six shelves storing books related to various fields such as history, fiction, self help, kitchen, economics and law in 2009. In the meantime, the shelf designed for fiction books, which is in the north of the zone, was turned into a shelf for children’s books. Other than those, the remaining facilities, which consist of the entrance, the librarian’s desk and the stairs, remained intact throughout the period shown.
