The process diagram below, depicts the stages of making a violin by hand. Altogether, it includes eight steps to receive the final product.
In the first step, a thin piece of wood is cut using a saw and is given a shape of violin. Followed by, two cutouts in the second step that is, the back part and front part. The front part has small designs on it known as f-hole. The f-hole is carved out using a cutting tool to achieve a precise shape, in the third step. In the following stage, a bass bar is pasted on the front side of the violin using a glue.
Further, to achieve the internal ribs of the violin, unshaped rib strips are taken. To mold the strips a heating tool is used for getting the shaped rib. In the fifth step, all the parts are assembled using glue. The front part is pasted over the back part, with the ribs laid internally for support.
After that, the body of the violin ready & it has to be added a neck which has a scroll at the top and is used for holding. In the seventh stage, the neck is attached to the violin along with the additional parts, the varnish is also applied. In the last step, we get the end product which is the completed violin.
