The diagram below shows the process of labelling shellfish to worldwide markets. This process consists of five stages such as artisanal fishing, monitoring, labelling system, shellfish processing, and certified shellfish.
In the first stage, the fishermen will put a GPS location device each one in their boats that has a satellite on it. The satellite has a detector which can automatically monitor the shellfish boats and will be monitored in Santiago by the observers. Then, after the catch, they will generate a barcode label in order to identify the catch. Next, the shellfish will go through shellfish processing in the processing plant so as to make sure that the shellfish quality is promising. Eventually, the shellfish that has gone through the processing, will be certified shellfish that is ready to be distributed both locally and internationally.
To sum up, the satellite that is located on each boat has a function to identify the catch so that the shellfish can be distributed in any domestic and foreign markets.
