The maps illustrate the alternatives in Felixstone, England, during the two-year period between 1967 and 2001.
Overall, there were significant changes in the organization of this area, especially the addition of new buildings, the removal of areas for fields and shopping.
As can be seen in the map, there was a golf course in the top-left corner, which remained in the 2001 plan. To the right of the golf course, there were two rows of shops along the street. After 30 years, the left one stayed unchanged; while the right one was converted into novel apartments for residential purposes. Additionally, on the top-right corner of the map, an old farmland was cleared to make way for a recreational and entertainment area, including a swimming pool, a hotel, and tennis courts.
In terms of remaining areas, the green area and dunes on the bottom-left corner remained unchanged, with the addition of wind turbines to generate electricity to the left of the sea. Moreover, the central area for the hotel and cafe remained unchanged, with the introduction of a new parking lot by the sea. A public beach was introduced in the 2001 plan to attract tourists, as it was not present in the 1967 map. In 1967, the fish market, which was on the right of the map, was demolished to make space for a private beach in 2001.
