The picture provides information about the transformation that occurred in the British city of Felixstowe over a 34-year period starting from 1967.
During this time, the town underwent significant changes, including the addition of tourism facilities and the removal of old infrastructure.
Upon closer inspection of the map, several major modifications are noticeable. In the northeast part of the city, there was previously farmland that was cleared to make space for a hotel featuring a swimming pool and two tennis courts. On the opposite side of the road, the fish market was converted into a private beach. The row of shops on the right side of High Street was replaced with a line of apartments.
In the southwestern area of the city, four wind turbines were erected just below the dunes, facing the sea. Adjacent to the dunes, a parking lot was constructed for the pre-existing hotel present since 1967, while the nearby coffee shop remained unchanged. There used to be a large marina and pier along the town’s seafront, but these were replaced by a public beach.
