Given are two diagrams that illustrate the glass industry. The first diagram illustrates steps of manufacturing glass while the second one depicts how its products are moulded into various products.
The first process is a four-stage linear process beginning with mixing three main elements and culminating in producing glass containers.
Next, the glass recycling path that is composed of five stages starting with assembling the glass used to finally form new products.
At the first stage, the glass is made by putting in sand, soda ash, limestone and other chemicals together. After that, this mixture is heated in glass furnace around 1500 degrees C to be melted. It is then followed by shaping the molten glass into a blow to finally be made into different glass containers such as bottles.
It can be noticed that the produced glass can also be modified to form new items. This recycling phase starts with collecting the used glass to then be categorized by their various colors. Next, the sorted glass is heavily washed to clear any impurities. After that it passes through simultaneous phase of being crushed and molten to finally end with creating new varieties of glass products.
