The illustrated diagrams depict the transformations that have occurred at Queen Mary Hospital since its construction in 1960 until 2000.
Overall, over the years, the space around the hospital has experienced remarkable development. Most noticeably, more medical facilities were built.
In 1960, Queen Mary Hospital was constructed south of the main road, right next to a parking lot. Southwest of the medical institution was farmland. Between the farmland and the main road, a shopping center had been constructed.
In 1980, the farm estate had been replaced by a nursing school, while the car park to its right remained unchanged. To the left of the hospital, the shopping center from 1960 was demolished. In its location, a pharmacy and a cancer center were constructed next to each other. In 2000, the hospital and pharmacy experienced no changes during the preceding 20 years. On the other hand, the car park and nursing school were narrowed, making room for the cancer center’s significant expansion
