The given chart illustrates the various stages of the salmon’s life cycle.
Overall, there are three stages, starting with salmon eggs and concluding with the salmon as an adult.
As we can see from the diagrams, the first stage in the life cycle of salmon begins with the hatching of their eggs. These salmon eggs are laid among the reeds and small stones in upper rivers where slow-moving water prevents the eggs from being washed away. After a period of about 5 to 6 months, these eggs will develop into fry, which are approximately 3-5cm in size. The fry live in the lower river where there is a strong flow of water, helping them acclimate to the rapid current. They will transform into smolts after 4 years.
Smolts live in the open sea, which is big. Smolts learn daily to become big and strong enough to undergo the last transformation. Smolts have a size of 12-15 cm. After 5 years, adult salmon have appeared. They have a size of 70-76 cm, more than seven times of shape. Finally, the adult fish swim back to the same location where they lay eggs. Having completed all the steps, the cycle starts all over again.
