The figure illustrates the stages of life of salmon fish that grows into a fairly big creature.
Overall, this is a natural phenomenon and it can be seen that salmon fish spends its lifetime in both rivers and sea. This process is divided into three separate levels with each stage indicating considerable growth. The diagram at the bottom gives a better idea on the size at each .
Salmon fish lays eggs in upper river with slow moving water surrounded with reeds and small stones. It takes half an year to hatch the eggs and fish comes out of the eggs called ‘fry’ and they are approximately 3-8 centimeters in length. Then they move to lower river with rapid waters and spends nearly 4 years while they growing into 12-15 centimeters. They are called ‘smolt’.
After 5 years, they reach the sea as they spend their rest of the life and get about 70-76 centimeters in size. Adult salmon travel back again to the upper river to lay eggs to repeat the cycle.
