The flow chart depicts the life stages of a fish known as salmon, which is big in size in the end stage.
Overall, the 6 stages of growth cycle of the salmon starts with the eggs of the salmon and ends with the fish matured to an adult. As each phase progresses, the salmon inhabits at different levels of the water body.
The life cycle starts with the eggs laid by the matured salmon. These eggs grow for around 5-6 months in the upper-river area. After this, it evolves into the stage where it is called as fry. The fry migrates to a deeper river level where it lives for approximately 4 years. At this phase of life, it is only around 3 to 8 centimetres in length.
At the fourth stage, the fry grows to become a smolt which is almost double the length of fry at 12 to 15 centimetres in length. The fish then travels to the open sea region where it stays there for around 5 years. After this period, the smolt finally matures into an adult salmon which is very large at 70 to 76 centimetres in length when compared to the other stages of the growth of the salmon. This cycle then continues to start again.
