The two maps show how the Biomedical Campus has changed from the present layout to the planned future design.
Looking at the illustration, it is evident that the area will undergo major redevelopment. While some facilities such as the car park and labs remain in their original positions, many other buildings will be relocated, expanded or replaced. More departments will also be added in the planned layout.
First, several features remain unchanged. The car park in the top-right corner stays in the same location. The labs in the lower-left and the central part also remain almost the same. However, some areas disappear or are replaced. The large green space with trees in the top-left will be removed to make way for the new Genetics 1 building and a Bio-imaging department. The old Biochemistry building along the walkway will also be moved to a new position.
By planned year, a number of new buildings are added. A new Genetics 2 facility will be constructed on the right side, and a larger Biotech building will replace the smaller one. Additionally, and new roads and walkways are created to improve access across the campus.
