Overall, the percentage of car users experienced upward trend. By contrast, the popularity of bike and pedestrian way to travel between work witnessed downturn. Bus usage showed a jump in the middle of the period and returned back to initial level.
In 1960, the proportion of employees who used private vehicle was just above 5%, which was the lowest value among other transport types. Throughout the period, it saw a substantial increase and reached the value of 40% in 2000, becoming the highest figure.
In contrast, the percentage of workers who preferred bus, bike or walking mode experienced a general downward trend. Bike usage declined continuously; having 25% in 1960, it dropped to about 5% in 2000. Similarly, the percentage of pedestrians was just under 40% in the begging and dropped to approximately 10% by the end. Regarding bus usage, the figure accounted for 15% of employees in 2000 after a climb to 25% in 1980.
