Overall, men played games more than women in all age groups. People aged 20-29 were the largest group of gamers. Role playing games were the most popular type, while other games were the least common.
Looking at age and gender, male gamers were most common in the 20-29 age group, at about 35%. This followed by those age 13-19, with around 18%. About 12% of male gamers were aged 30 and over, while around 10%were under 12. Female gamers made up smaller percentages in every group, reaching about 10% in the 20-29 category and only around 3% among those aged 30+.
In terms of game preferences, about half of all gamers preferred role-playing games. Action games were chosen by around 20%, and strategy games by about 17%. Simulation games were less trendy, at around 10%, while other types accounted for only a very small percentage.
