Overall, both genders used social media every day more than other categories in 2014, with more men never and women using it once a week three years ago.
Looking at females, the proportion of women who never used social media was merely 8% in 2011, as the lowest rank among all categories, soaring by 14% in three years. That of once a week was 39%, plummeting by 29% in 2014, with few times a week recording 22% and 9% in 2011 and 2014, respectively. Every day, 30% of Australian women engaged on social media in 2011, rocketing to by 29% in 2014.
Regarding males, 44% of men never engaged on social media in 2011, falling to 30% in three years, with 12% using it once a week in 2011, and 9% in 2014. 19% of them engrossed in social media platforms few times a week in 2011, decreasing by 3% in three years. Every day, a quarter of men engaged in social media, increasing by 20% to become the dominant rank among males’ usage of social media in both years.
