The bar chart shows number of males and females competitors in the Olympic between 1924 and 2012, while the line graph presents the number of overall participants at the same period.
Overall, the bar chart demonstrates information that the highest number was for men in all period, whilst the female athletes’ proportion was lower than males at the same time. Besides, the data of the line graph shows participants, regardless of their genders, which was gradually increased from 1924 to 2012.
Furthermore, in the bar chart the highest number was for men athletes, about 6000 in 2012, although the lowest proportion of competitors was women, just above zero by 1924. Consequently, the trend reached at above 4000 and 5000 male competitors in 1952 and 1984 respectively. Therefore, the proportion of male and female participants was improved at the same time, but there was much difference about 3000 male competitors, who were more than female by 1924 and 4000 gap in 1952.
Moreover, the line graph also represents that all participants followed a steady increase at the same period. Both genders reached a peak at above 10000 by 2012, while the trend was at the lowest number in 1924 around 3000 competitors. Additionally, the number of athletes was about 5000 and 7000 in 1924 and 1984 respectively. Meanwhile, the number of male participants was close to this trend in 1924 and 1952, with 3000 and above 4000 competitors.
