The line chart illustrates how many students participated in five main courses in a specified college in 2012. Meanwhile, the bar graph compares the number of women and men choosing these subjects.
Overall, management was the most favorite course among students, while the least popular one was agriculture. In addition, while females generally took part in the courses of management and arts, males tended to join classes related to STEM subjects.
Six thousand students chose the subject of management, followed by engineering and health courses with four thousand and two thousand participants, respectively. The number of students registering for the math and arts courses was the same, remaining at approximately one thousand. In the mean time, the figure for agriculture was only half of that, making it the least attractive course to students.
Four thousand females enrolled in the course of management, which doubled that of males. A similar gap, but to a lesser extent, was seen in the art class, with respective figures for women and men being at 400 and 300. Conversely, nearly 3000 male students chose the course related to engineering, which far exceeded that of their female counterparts. The male dominance was also exhibited in health and math courses, with the corresponding numbers for men and women being around 1500 and 600 and being 400 and 300. The course of agriculture saw the equal share of students of two sexes.
