The line graph illustrates the usage of fixed telephone lines, mobile phones, and internet by millions of Chinese people from 1994 to 2005. Overall, the use of these three technologies experienced a significant increase over the years, especially mobile phones – the highest increase, whereas the use of internet has the least increase among the others . Notably, the number of mobile phones users overtook the number of fixed telephone line users in 2001.
Starting with the highest rates, about 10 million people used the fixed telephone lines in 1994 and it decreased to 50 million users in 1995, whereas mobile phones started to being popular. In 2001, the numbers of both technology users were about 250 million. Among the years 2001 and 2002, the number of people used mobile phones overtook the number of fixed telephone line users. By 2005, the number of mobile phone users saw a noticeable rise to its peak of 450 million users – the highest number of users. Users of fixed telephone lines gree to its peak of 350 million users.
Regarding to lower trend, the use of internet started only in 1996 and it showed a significant rise to 100 million users in 1999. Additionally, 150 million of users it reached in 2002. The number of users increased and almost hit 200 million users in 2005.
