The line graph represents the trend of fertility and mortality rates in New Zealand from 1901 to 2101.
Overall, there are two opposing trends of the number of citizens who were death and birth over the initial 200 years. The large gap between the two levels will be reversed in the later part of this century.
According to the graph, the birth rate has been consistently higher than death rate, it is stood at 20,000 at the start of period given. The birth rates experienced the peak point in 1961 around 65,000. In the following years, the rates has fluctuated between 50 and 65 thousand and it is expected to decline gradually about 45,000 births by the end of century.
On the other hand, death rate started with below 10,000 and steadily increased until the present time. This rise is expected more rapid between 2021 and 2051 when the rate will probably level off at around 60,000, before dropping slightly in 2101.
