The percentage of petrol expenditure by the poorest group in the USA was approximately from 3.7% to 5.2%, which was nearly double the figure for the UK. Conversely, the richest class in the UK accounted for between around 3.1% and 3.8% expenditure on petrol, whereas the figure for the USA was slightly lower, from roughly 2.3% to 3.7% of income spent.
The middle-income group in the UK constituted from about 2.6% to 3.7% spending on such fuel, while the USA followed a contrasting pattern, with the figure standing at between 3.8% and 3.9% expenditure, marginally surpassing this figure for the UK.
