The number for men was above 4 million in 2011 which is significantly higher than number for women who had approximately 3.7 million. Both groups showed a decline over the years, but the decrease more pronounced among females. By 2021, the population of male smokers dropped to just above 1 million, whereas the number of female smokers declined to below 1 million.
The most significant drop occurred from 2011 to 2013, when the number of women smokers dropped sharply to below one million. Though the population of male smokers didn’t showed as much decrease as females, their number decreased gradually to around 2.5 million.
