The line graph illustrates the data about how many people lived in cities in Asian countries such as Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia between 1970 and 2020, and how many people will live from 2030 to 2040.
Overall, the percentage of population living in cities had decreased in four Asian countries from 1970 to 2020. It is predicted that amount of citizens will grow remarkably in the given period of time between 2020 and 2040.
The population of individuals living in cities had a dramatic increase in Malaysia and Indonesia. The percentage of citizens in Malaysia, which stood at 30 per cent in 1970, had a moderate increase just below 50 per cent in 1990. In 1990 there was a significant growth, rising from just above 60 % in 2000 to approximately 80 %. It is predicted that it will grow further, as well as the amount of individuals living in cities of Indonesia, reaching a peak at just above 80 per cent.
Citizens of Philippines and Thailand had a moderate rise over 70 year period. The percentage of population living in cities had increased from just above 30 per cent to just below 50 per cent in Philippines in 1990. In the same year there was a growth in Thailand. There was a slight decline in Philippines in 2010, however it will rise by the 2040 reaching a 50 per cent. After a moderate increase in 1990 in Thailand, it rose minimally by 2020. The percentage of people living in cities in Thailand will rise gradually up to 2024
