The line graph provides a comparison of banana prices in four countries, namely Japan, France, Germany, and the USA from 1994 to 2004.
Overall, bananas were the highest prices in Japan while in the USA they were the cheapest. In addition, the three categories’ banana prices all fluctuated such as Japan, France, and Germany whereas that of the USA was quite stable.
On one hand, banana fruit was the most expensive in Japan, being about US$1.80/kg in 1994. After that, having reached its peak at US$2.80/kg one year later, this figure dropped by approximately US$1.30/kg in 2001 and ended with US$2.50/kg, which was still the leading position. On the other hand, the banana fruit’s prices were not only the most stable but also the lowest in the graph, compared to that of the remaining countries. In 1994, the cost of bananas in this nation was under US$0.8/kg and increased at US$1.20/kg for one year. Moreover, this figure was still unchanged over the 8-year period.
Nevertheless, France and Germany showed a slightly similar trend in their banana costs, which were US1.60/kg and US1.40/kg respectively in 1994. Although the prices of bananas in France were stable between 1995 and 1997, that of France’s banana costs were erratic at the same time. Furthermore, in 2003, France had its cheapest price, which was US1/kg compared to other nations’ banana costs.
