Overall, it can be seen that all the railway transport facilities saw various fluctuations during the time period of 54-55 years, additionally, it can also be observed that the national rail network is the most used transport by the public followed by the London Underground and then, the Metro Line is the least used since its start in the midst of 1960.
Undoubtedly, the National rail network serves a vast majority of the public in the Great Britain. Since 1950, the statistics of the people travelling had peaked at above 1,000 million people during the late 1950s and then it gently decreased to approximately 625 million in the early 1980s and then saw a slow rise back to its peak during the year 2004/05. Similarly, the London underground saw a gradual fall from 1950 which was at nearly 750 million to the beginning of 1980, at just below 500 million individuals. Since then, it soared to a peak of estimate 900 million passengers around the end of the 1990s.
On the other hand, the metro service started in the middle of 1960 with very few passengers, it saw a decline till 1980, then increased slowly to at least 200 million people by 2004/05.
