The line graph illustrates different patterns of agents causing air contaminators in the United Kingdom over a 15-year course commencing 1990.
Overall, air pollutants in the UK recorded a dramatic decrease. Air pollutants from households, industry, and other sources experienced a substantial decline; while the figure for transport stabilized throughout the given period.
Total air pollutants retained their dominant position, despite the existence of a formidable decrease. Registering a staggering 7 million tonnes in 1990, this category underwent a gradual but significant decrease, logging 4 million tonnes after 9 years. From 1999, this figure continued to witness a sizeable decrease to approximately 3 million. A similar pattern was also recorded in air contaminators from industry with a precipitous decline from 5 million to only 3 million tonnes between 1993 and 1996, followed by a marginal decrease to 2 million over the remained years.
The number of air pollutants from transport and households commenced at the same 1 million tones in 1990. Still, by 2005, transport’s figures remained unwavering; households’ had an oscillating and minimal decrease to none.
