The line graph illustrates the amount of air pollution in the UK between 1990 and 2005 generated from transport, industry and households. Units are measured in million tonnes.
Overall, the section most accounts for emitting toxic air in the UK was from industrial part while households were the least among them. The total amount of polluted air was reached the peak in 1990 and steeply decreased to its lowest point in 2005.
In 1990, Air pollution in the UK was hit its hightest level at 7 million tonnes. The number fell significantly to 4 million tonnes 9 years later. From 1990 to 2002, it remained the same throughout the period then started to fall again afterwards until faced the lowest level, around 3 million tonnes, in 2005.
Comparing between 3 contributors, industry was played the hugest part by releasing about 5.5 million tonnes of the UK air pollution in 1990 while only about 1 million tonnes from transport and households in the same year. However, in 1996, its contribution number was dropped to 3 million tonnes then gradually decreased overtime. This trend also adaptable for househols contribution which slightly deminished to 500,000 tonnes in 1996 then almost completly disappeared in 2005. Transport, on the contrary, was gradually increased by little over the period of time.
