Overall, while unemployment rate among females in Scotland increased moderately from 2013 to 2014, the opposite patterns were true for the remaining countries, namely England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It is also evident that the figure for female unemployment in England was the highest in 2013, prior to being surpassed by Scotland in 2014.
Looking at the first data for England in 2013, the proportion of English females who were jobless stood at 6.8%, which was the highest figure. In the same year, the second-highest female unemployment rate was recorded in Scotland, at 6.1%. In the meantime, the figures for Wales and Northern Ireland were 5.4% and 5.6% respectively.
In terms of 2014, the percentage of women unemployed in Scotland rose noticeably from 6.1% to 6.7%. Meanwhile, there were downward trends to 6.5%, 5.0%, and 4.6% in the rates of female unemployment in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland correspondingly.
