The statistic illustrates the different methods by which people deal with waste in four nations: Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and the UK.
Overall, the highest percentages are for waste processed by landfilling methods in most of the assessed countries, except for the Netherlands whose rate of recycled waste holds the lead. Alongside this, there is a stark contrast between the most common methods with other techniques in the UK and Netherlands.
With regards to the amount of waste recycled in four countries, the Netherlands registers the dominant percentage which accounted for nearly 70%, while those of other nations are relatively low, which do not exceed one-fifth. Additionally, the amount of waste undergoing landfilling methods record the highest rates in three countries: at 40% in both Spain and Italy and over four-quarters in England; conversely, the figure holds the bottom in the Netherlands which is nearly one-in-ten.
In terms of the remaining approaches, there is an insignificant difference in the percentages of waste utilized for chemical substances, which are between below one-fifth across four countries. Moreover, the percentage for burnt waste is the second-best in both Spain and Italy, which is about one-third in the former higher than that of the latter by 10% , whereas the figure in the UK is negligible.
