The chart illustrates the percentage of four different wastes – Metal, Plastic, Cans and Paper that were recycled in a town, over the period from 2000 to 2010.
Overall, it is clear that the demand for recycling Metal was the highest, while Plastic had the lowest.
In 2000, Cans had the highest figure overtaking other figures, at 14%. By contrast, the amount of Metal and Paper recycled similarly, at 11%. Meanwhile, Plastic was the least recycled item accounted for only 10%. Between 2000 and 2005, the demand for Metal has sharply risen from 11% to 28%, whereas, Paper and Plastic increased moderately to 17% and 13%. Additionally, the percentage of Cans has slightly decreased to 12%.
In 2010, Metal became the most recycled waste in the town, accounting for 40%, while Cans showed a significant increase from 12% to 35%. Also, the demand for Paper and Plastic hit its peak at 28% and 25%.
