The line graph compares the weekly consumption per person of potatoes, pasta and rice, in an unnamed nation in Europe over a period of 30 years. A glance at the graph reveals that dietary habits varied considerably between 1976 and 2006, leading to a dramatically rise in the consumption of pasta, while that of potatoes hugely decreased.
As presented in the image, in 1976, approximately 250 grams of pasta were eaten in seven days by a person in that European country; in 1996 this amount doubled, becoming half a kilogram, and remaining steady in the following years.
In contrast, potatoes and rice became less popular on the tables of people. After a slight increase to 450 grams in 1981, the consumption of this tuber fell significantly, with one hectogram eaten weekly in 2006. Meanwhile, the rice used per person during the week decreased of approximately 120 grams from 1976 to 1991, and then marginally grew again to 200 grams in 2006.
