Overall, the proportion of households owning three different electrical appliances consistently rose over the five periods. Meanwhile, the number of housework showed a steadily decrease strating from 1920 until 2019.
Refrigerator started from zero percent in 1920, and it increased significantly over five different times, rising sharply to 50% in 2 decades later. Furthermore, it reached the 100% of proportion by 1980, showing a stable level until 2019 with a hundred percent of users. Starting at 30% of proportion, vacuum cleaner remained a consistent increase over the years, and it achieved a hundred percent of households in 2000 and continued until 2019. Whereas, the washing machine was started as the highest proportion in 1920 with 40% and it remained a slight increase for 2 periods later by 60% and 70% respectively, before falling slightly to 60% in 1980. By the end of 2019 washing machine only stood at around 70%, not reaching 100%.
Spending hours of housework showed a significant drop from 1920 to 2019. Initially, it started at 50 hours per week and it slightly dropped to 32 hours in 1940, before falling to about 13 hours in 1980, and it stood at only 10 hours by the end of periods.
