The line graph shows the percentage of households in the UK that had access to four types of modern technology, including CD players, mobile phones, DVD players and Internet connections, from 1994/95 to 2008.
Overall, the percentage of households using all four technologies increased during the period. CD players were the most popular technology for most of the years, while DVD players had the fastest growth. However, the figure for CD players decreased slightly at the end of the period.
In 1994/95, about 45% of UK households had a CD player. This number increased steadily and reached nearly 90% in 2006/07 before falling slightly to around 85% in 2008. Mobile phone ownership also went up significantly, rising from about 15% in 1996/97 to around 80% at the end of the period.
Internet connections had the lowest percentage at the beginning, with only about 10% of households in 1998/99. After that, the figure increased gradually and reached approximately 65% in 2008. DVD players showed the biggest increase. Starting at around 30% in 2002/03, the percentage rose sharply and reached about 85% in 2008. By the end of the period, DVD players became almost as popular as CD players in UK households.
