The line graph illustrates the demand of fish and various types of meat in European countries over the period 25 years from 1979 to 2004. Units are measured in grams per person per week.
Overall, the consumption of all foods dropped throughout the given period, with the exception of chicken. Although beef showed the highest number at the start, it had been surpassed by chicken by the end of the period.
In terms of the food with the highest consumption at the start, the proportions of beef started at approximately 230 in 1979. In the following two years, it had a drastic drop to just over 150 in 1981, before reaching a peak of around 250 in 1983. From this point onwards, the amount of food demand decreased dramatically to precisely 100 in 2004. Similarly, the demand for lamb started at about 150 in 1979, and decreased gradually over the period.
Regarding the other food consumption with the lowest at the beginning, the amount of chicken started at just below 150 in 1979, and increased dramatically over the years. In contrast, the consumption of fish was about 50 at the start in 1979. Thereafter, it remained steady until the final year.
