The bar chart illustrates the information about proportion of European’s transports that was used to travel and to go to work, during a period from 1960 to 2000.
Looking from an overall perspective it is readily apparent that the number of people who used a car increased significantly, while the proportion of users that used to travel with bike decreased gradually.
Starting from 1960, the number of people who went to work on foot, compared to people who used cars, composed 5%. The percentage of those who used buses and bikes were around 25% and under 20%. However, travelling by bus was the most popular, while travelling on foot the least once and conducted over 25% of total travelers, whereas only under 20% on foot. The figures of bike and car were around 20% and under 25%.
At the end of the period, travelers by car conducted 35% and were the highest one, while by bike were the least one with 5%. Compared with starting, in 2000 the number of people who travelled by bus decreased marginally by under 5%. The percentage of those who travelled to work on foot fell to 6%.
