The line graph illustrates the estimated number of cars manufactured in China, the UK, Japan, and the USA from 2020 to 2035. (The numbers of cars are measured in thousands).
Overall, it can be observed that there was a clear difference between the four countries at the beginning of the period. The figures predict a significant decrease in car manufacture in the USA, Japan, and the UK, while China is expected to see a steady rise by 2035. In the same year, the margins between the figures are expected to shrink as well.
In 2020, Japan had the highest number of cars manufactured, with around 350 hundred thousand units. The USA followed with exactly 300 hundred thousand, the UK with 200 hundred thousand, and China with 100 hundred thousand units. Between 2020 and 2025, Japan saw a slight growth to around 370 hundred thousand, with the USA dropping to approximately 200 hundred thousand units. The UK also experienced a decline, reaching about 180 hundred thousand units. In contrast, China showed a mild climb to about 120 hundred thousand units by 2025.
From 2025 onwards, the trends separated further. By 2030, Japan’s car production had decreased gradually by about 50 hundred thousand, while the USA and the UK both dropped to approximately 100 hundred thousand. Meanwhile, China continued to go up, surpassing the UK and the USA by 2030 with about 140 hundred thousand cars. By 2035, Japan’s car production is expected to fall to about 100 hundred thousand, with the USA and the UK both dropping to nearly zero. China is projected to continue its steady rise, reaching around 150 hundred thousand cars, which makes it a leading car manufacturer among the four countries.
