The line graph compares the changes in the number of foreign tourists to the European coast, mountains and lakes over the period between 1987 and 2007.
As it is clearly seen, all three destinations followed an upward trend with some changes in the data, the mountains being the least popular attraction throughout the period.
In 1987 only 20000 visitors picked the mountainous area. This number fluctuated during the next 10 years, reaching its peak of approximately 35000 in the late 90s, and then falling to 30000 in 2002. In the last year it rose by 5000.
The coastal area was the most attractive tourist zone with 40000 visitors in 1987. However, it decreased slightly in 1992 and showed a gradual increase till 2007, remaining the most frequently chosen.
With regard to the lakes, the lowest number of tourists visited these areas in 1987- only 10000. There was a stable rise till the end of the 90s when the figure reached 50000 and afterwards, it rocketed to more than 70000 in 2007, overtaking the coast by more than 10000. Though in 2007 it dropped to just 50000
