Both openings and closures went up by 1000 shops in 2013. Openings continued the same trend for the following year, while closures decreased slightly to 6500 shops.
By 2015, Closures had significantly fell to a mere 500 shops. This was followed by a substantial rise in the following year, reaching a little above 5000 shops being closed. The figure almost stayed the same until the end of the period. The number of openings was also decreased by 2000 shops in 2015, reaching a figure of 4000. This number remained constant until 2018, in which openings were reduced from just above 4000 shops to 3000 shops.
