The table illustrates the number of male and female students enrolled in six different courses at a British university in 2014.
Overall, men outnumbered women in most subjects, particularly in engineering-related courses, while women were more prevalent in English and Gender Studies. Business Administration and Accountancy attracted similar numbers of students from both genders.
In Business Administration, there were slightly more male students than females, with 1,300 men compared to 1,250 women. A similar pattern can be seen in Accountancy, where male enrolment stood at 1,240, marginally higher than the 1,220 female students. English, however, showed a reverse trend, with 850 women studying the subject compared to 800 men.
A significant gender gap is evident in Various Engineering, which was heavily male-dominated, enrolling 500 men but only 200 women. Chinese also had more male students, with 200 men versus just 50 women. In contrast, Gender Studies was the only course where female participation was substantially higher, as 100 women enrolled compared to only 20 men.
