Overall, it is evident that reading was by far the most common activity in both location and time periods, while the most significant increase was witnessed in photography.
As can be seen from the table, reading emerged as the dominant free-time activity, with 61% urban residents and 71% urban residents in 1990, both of which followed an upward trend and reached 78% residents in 2010. Moreover, in 1990, the least popular activity, photography, which had just 7% citizens and 14% rural adults, before surging to 17% and 14% in the number of rural and urban adults, respectively.
Furthermore, the total number of participants of animated play and playing saw a downward trend. According to the percentage of adults who engaged in animated play, the proportion of citizens remained unchanged at 10%, the opposite was true for that of urban residents with a drop from 18% in 1990 to 14% in 2010. Moreover, a significant plunge from 21% in 1990 to 14% in 2010 was seen in the number of citizens who chose playing when they had free time, while that of rural residents was unchanged.
