The bar graph illustrates the percentage of shift workers in Engalnd, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales in years 1980 and 2010.
Overall, the biggest rise of the number of part-time workers can be seen in Scotland, almost twice in number. Countries such as England and Wales also experienced increase in numbers of shift workers, whereas in Norther Ireland the number of such people declined.
Comparing countries indexes in 1980, it can be said that in Wales the percentage of shift workers was just over 30% – the biggest one. Whilst, in England it was approximately 25%. In countries such as Northern Ireland and Scotland indexes of part-time worked was the lowest ones, 15% roughly and just over 10%, respectively.
As for the year 2010, in Wales the percentage of shift workers increased to approximately 35%, and remained the biggest one. The number of interested people for part-time job positions increased as well, to just over 30%. Moreover, in Scotland indexes of willing people for part-time jobs increased dramatically, to just under 20%. However, Northern Ireland experienced decrease in the number of shift workers, to just over 10%.
