Overall, there was an upward trend in the percentage of city dwellers in all countries. Furthermore, the proportion of inhabitants in Korea was constantly highest during the timescale given.
Evidently, the percentage of metropolitan residents in the USA took the lead at 70% in the first year, after which it is projected to grow to 90% in the year 2030. A similar pattern, but to a greater extent, could be seen in the figure for Korea, which stood at 40% at the beginning of the surveyed period before witnessing over twofold growth to 90% in the final year.
20% of urban residents lived in India in 1970, with a leveling off at 20% during the next 10 years and a final rise to around 39% at the end of the surveyed period. Similarly, after stabilizing at 20% between 1970 and 1990, which it rose to north of 30% to surpass India to stay at the third position in 1995, followed by an exponential growth to about 65% in 2030.
