The line chart compares the number of means of trasportation namely cars, rails, airlines, coaches and ferries that were utilized by tourists to travel to a specific country in percentage from 1989 to 2009. Overall, the majority of those categories witnessed an upward trend; however, aviational transportation suffered from a reverse trend. Additionally, railways documented the most dramatic rise , ferry’s usage was the lowest throughout.
Regarding types of transport that started the highest, the percentage of tourists opting for cars was nearly 49 in 1989 , and then ascended continuously in two years after, before reaching a peak of over two-thirds in the middle of the period. Subsequently, it documented a sudden drop before finishing at approximately 50% . Moreover,air vehicles and railways despite commencing at roughly 40% and 36% respectively, their patterns diverged in 1994. From this point, whereas the former plummeted to a low of about 20% , the latter rocketed to eventually become the most favorable types of transport.
As for the remaining categories, after witnessing a gradual growth from 10 %, coach’s utilization reached its all time high with around 25% , surpassing air vehicles to become the third position. Lastly, ferry recorded a similar increment of 10% from 2%, which then dropped to 8% in the end, making it the lowest means of transportation used by tourists throughout.
