The bar chart depicts revenue percentages from three Hollywood film genres, namely, Romance, Comedies and Action/Horror between 1970 and 2000. In general, while the proportion for Romance witnessed a noticeable downward trend and Comedies’ figure remained stable after experiencing a slight increase and a significant decline, there was a steady growth in the percentage of income from Action/Horror. Although Romance’s figure had begun as the highest, by the end of the period, the proportion for Action/Horror surpassed others to be the greatest figure.
As can be seen from the graph, the revenue proportion of Romance started at 50% in 1970 as the peak of the whole period prior to undergoing a substantial decrease to about 39% in 1980 and falling by nearly three fourths to 10% in 2000 as the lowest figure. Regarding Comedies, its figure began at nearly 33% in 1970 and experienced a slight increase to about 35% in 1980. This followed by a marginal decline to just over 30% in 1990, remaining unchanged until the end.
On the other hand, the level of income in Action/Horror started at just under 10% in 1970 and increased by nearly two times in 1990 to about 18%. Then its proportion doubled to approximately 36% by the end of the period, surpassing others to be the highest figure afterwards.
