The graph shows the upward trend for all four transportation system, where road was the most commonly used and pipe line is the least commonly used in the given period of time.
Pipeline was used for approximately 5 million tons in 1974 to transport goods, which constantly climbed up to 22 million tons in almost 3 decades. 39 to 40 tons of goods were transported in UK via water and rail in 1974.However, with time goods transported through water soared up to 65 tons in 2002 and goods transported through rail slipped down in between 1982 to 1986 and 1994 to 1998, eventually rising back to 41 tons. Road was used to transport 65 million tons of goods in 1974 which surged to 98 million tons.
Overall, road is the most used way for transporting goods, with usage continuously increasing, however pipeline is the least utilized method.
