The given chart depicts the rates of smoking in Someland among Men and Women from 1960 to 2000.
Overall, the figure for men accounted for the highest rate of smokers at the beginning of the period, but this has had a downward movement during the whole period. By contrast, while the number of women who has become interested in smoke are increased, women are always fewer than men totally.
In 1960, the figure for men was the highest at 60 per 1000 whereas that of women stood at roughly 10 per 1000. Over the next 15-year period, there was a gradual decrease of one-sixth in the rate of smokers among men. However, in the same period, the number of women smokers witnessed a significant twofold rise to 30 per 1000, which was the highest point and remained constant by 1980.
In the subsequent years, both trends experienced a decline, but the fall in the number of men was more dramatic than that of women. At the end of the period, men smokers dropped and hit about one-third of the initial point at it started, just above 20 per 1000. Similarly, the figure for women also fell gradually by 10 (20 per 1000).
