The given column graph compares the results of a survey regarding the best solution to global warming among young people in four European countries: Portugal, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.
Overall, it is clearly evident that lifestyle changes were considered the most effective method to reduce global warming in all four countries, whereas only a small percentage of young people believed that none of the given solutions would be effective.
In terms of Portugal, lifestyle changes were by far the most preferred solution throughout the survey period. Around 50% of Portuguese young people considered lifestyle changes to be the best way to tackle global warming. In comparison, government regulations and environmental measures accounted for approximately 20% and 17% respectively, while only a very small proportion selected none of these options. Similarly, the majority of young people in Spain believed that lifestyle changes were the most effective solution, at about 37%. However, environmental issues were regarded as slightly more effective than government regulations, representing 20% and 17% respectively.
Meanwhile, Italy and the Netherlands followed a relatively similar pattern. In Italy, around 30% of respondents chose lifestyle changes as the best solution, followed by environmental issues at about 25% and government regulations at approximately 22%. Likewise, in the Netherlands, lifestyle changes remained the most popular option at nearly 24%, while environmental issues and government regulations accounted for around 21% and 19% respectively. In both countries, only a minimal percentage of young people selected none of these alternatives.
