The bar chart shows the different kinds of carbon emissions from three fossil fuels in the UK over a 20 year period. Overall, gas showed modest growth year by year, while coal declined moderately during a period. It is also clear that oil was more volatile.
In 1990, gas was the lowest figure in emissions at around 220 million tons, while coal approximately stayed at the peak of 300 million tons. After 10 years, the amount of gas emissions increased by 80 million tons, overtaking those of other emissions. However, the amount of coal experienced a drop of around 50 million tons. In the final year, the number of gases increased moderately to more than 300 million tons. In addition, the level of coal continued to decrease and fell further to 180 million tons.
Additionally, the quantity of oil was 260 million tones in the beginning of the period. Furthermore after 5 years it showed a decreasing figure to 230 million tons. Meanwhile, the amount of oil experienced a rise to 250 million tons in 2000, while after an increase it was followed by a declining trajectory to 200 mln tons at the end of the period.
