The bar chart illustrates the percentages of tourists from five countries who used four types of transport in New Zealand in 2004.
Overall, it is clear that coach and air travel were the most popular means of transport, while ferries were the least used. However, Korean tourists preferred cars more than other forms of transport.
In detail, British and German tourists showed similar patterns, with around 55% using coaches, compared with about 42% traveling by air. Car use was lower, at roughly 28% for British tourists and 35% for Germans, while ferry use stood at around 20% for both. Japanese tourists mainly traveled by air, at just over 50%, followed by coaches at about 48%, while far fewer used cars or ferries.
Korean tourists showed a different trend, as car travel was the most popular at approximately 48%, followed by air at around 42%. Australian tourists, by contrast, strongly favored coaches, at about 55%, whereas air, car and ferry use were all considerably lower.
