The bar chart compares visitors from five countries to New Zealand in terms of their transport usage in 2004 with units measured in percentages.
Overall, a large number of visitors from almost all countries travelled by a car while ferry was the least preferred mode of transport with the exception of German visitors in 2004. Of particular note is that Australian travelers used transports less frequently in comparison with their counterparts.
Focusing on bigger categories first, the use of cars as a means to travel was dominant in all countries, except for Japan whose 55% of visitors travelled by a plane and over 50% by private vehicles. Noticeably, while German and British people often used the ferry, hitting the threshold of 40% and 50%, this transportation was less used to reach their destination by Japanese, Korean, and Australian people over the period.
While 52% of Japanese people used the coach, this transport was used for travelling at a relatively low level by other counterparts. Australian travelers to New Zealand preferred cars during the period while other options were largely neglected.
