The bar chart shows the percentage of student share between UK students and international students who achieved second-class degrees or better at a major UK university in 2009.
Overall, most UK students took social-science studies, while international students tended to take engineering and technological studies, and there was equality in students share for both groups in nursing and accountancy subjects.
Four in five of study subjects were more popular for UK students than international students. Around 80% of UK students enrolled in art history and sociology classes, while approximately 70% of international students took these two subjects. Interestingly, there was a big gap between UK students and international students who joined the English literature and international law studies, around 70% of students were from the UK and nearly half of international students joined these classes.
The vast majority of international students enrolled to study engineering and technology. Almost 90% of them joined the information technology class, while fewer UK students enrolled in this class than those from overseas. The subject of electrical engineering was more popular among international students, it accounted for 80% and only nearly 60% came from the local students. However, the percentage of UK students who enrolled in nursing and accountancy courses was nearly the same as international students.
